This is my first day of 30 to Pay It Forward or as I shall call if from now on PIF. Although this is not a new idea it was a bit of a challenge from my friend Stacey. She facebooked that she was going to do PIF for one month and if anyone wanted to join her she would like that. I think it's a great idea. The first good thing that came out of it is that I found my 'blog' site that I had setup about 7 years ago but only used a couple of times and then forgot about it. It took some doing but I found it!
We have been in Orlando Florida for the past week - a little chilly - but nothing like the -20 degrees they are having at home.
So now for PIF on my first day. What I realized quickly when you are doing this is that you start thinking "how can I PIF" today. You are constantly looking for ways to be 'nice'. Now, I like to think that I'm generally a nice person - but there is always room for improvement.
We went into a drugstore and I noticed the woman's name tag that was checking us out. I asked her how she pronounced it....Mereah...she said "You know Mariah Carey"..."yes"..."Just like that" she said, "without the money". I told her that it was very pretty and she wished me a good day (genuinely) and off I went.
We came back to our resort where we have to use our room key to get into the parking lot. The person in front of me was taking a very long time. I jumped out of my car and said "do you need a key" "yes", he said somewhat frantically "I can't find mine" "no problem". Now I may have sat there getting very impatient but in my new PIF mindset that didn't happen. Richard said that he probably isn't staying here and I just gave him access to all the rooms! Oh ye of little faith.
So that is my first day and it's only 3:45 p.m. Thanks Stacey for the challenge. It will be fun.

hahaha! I laughed out loud at that one. I think the challenge is going to be remembering to keep that mindset every day. I've started to write a list of ideas in case I run out of opportunities during the day for random acts and need a quick idea. My greater challenge is coming up with some that don't make us broke!
ReplyDeleteYou have raised the bar my friend! Yes, I think they need to be Random Acts of Kindness that don't involve money. Involving money limits the people who would do it I'm thinking.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I have nothing to write for tonight. I wasn't mean to anybody today....perhaps that is enough?
